Sustainable product creation is the process of designing and bringing products to market in a way that considers the environmental, social, and economic impacts of those products throughout their entire lifecycle.

We provide our customers with the knowledge, tools, and support they need to grow their business, and make product creation sustainable.

Addnode Group has selected six of the UN’s global Sustainable Development Goals that are most relevant for its business and in which its divisions have the possibility to make an impact.

TECHNIA strongly believe that we need to reduce our environmental impact by constantly improving our internal operations. Our Quality & Environment policies provide guidance to continuously improve our processes, products, and services in order to meet or exceed customer requirements.

Sustainable Product Development Solutions

Strategies for Designing, Developing, and Manufacturing More Sustainable Products

In the coming decade, sustainable product creation will become an absolute imperative. So, it’s understandable that many OEMs and suppliers are already deep into the rollout of their own digital transformation.

For those who are still in the planning phase: now is the time to act. But the first step toward more sustainable product creation is often the hardest to take.

Choosing the right tools for the task can hold your organization back. And, in the case of industrial digitalization through Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), it’s not just about selecting the tools you need. It’s also about deciding on the right partner for your digitalization journey.

Digital Twin

Digital Twins are gaining recognition and popularity as a solution for digitally representing a product, building or even a human being. This is enabling new opportunities to improve performance, operations, productivity, or quality of life.

A Digital Twin strategy to drive sustainability programs can be profoundly effective.

Digital Twins offer significant benefits when planning, implementing, and realizing reduced energy consumption and the switch to more sustainable materials.

Digital Twins also provide several advantages in the recycling of a product based on a comprehensive and digital description, allowing for strong traceability and the efficient and controlled dismantling and recycling of material.

Lifecycle Assessment

Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) provides a cohesive overview of the effect your company’s products and services have on the environment. It asks questions about product design and material choice optimization, energy sources, manufacturing processes, and distribution methods.

Embedding LCA within digital twin technology opens up a slew of new approaches for achieving a net-zero economy.

The 3DEXPERIENCE Sustainable Innovation Intelligence solution accesses the Ecoinvent lifecycle database to provide decision-makers with consistently accurate insights.

Companies that tether this actionable intelligence to a digital twin can assess and ensure the sustainability of all product-related decisions before implementing them.

Circular Economy

We strongly believe a PLM system can be the best solution for managing a product’s lifecycle as part of a circular economy.

So, we’re developing new solutions that will make that a reality. For instance, a full overview over which materials are reusable will help companies make better decisions at an earlier stage of the manufacturing process.

To come up with the best solutions possible, we’re cooperating with companies and certification institutions to understand which features will best support a circular model.

We know many companies that are making the switch gradually, and we want to create modules that will help them schedule that work in the most efficient way possible.

Sustainability Case Studies

Since 2022, Addnode Group has published sustainability case studies each quarter. These references highlight how our digital solutions contribute to our clients' sustainability goals.

Nottingham Trent University

Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is one of the most sustainable universities in the world, ranked third in the UK by the People and Planet University League, and fifth globally in the UI Green Metric. With NTU, the TECHNIA company Claytex has supported a sustainability project that involved the modeling of buildings’ thermal management systems.

Kite Rise

The Kite Rise founding team is made up of experienced automotive battery developers who are now on a mission to deliver the world’s first sustainable, high-performance energy storage system. Kite Rise’s solutions are based on sodium-ion technology, a more sustainable and safer alternative to conventional lithium-ion batteries. Unlike lithium batteries, all the raw materials can be responsibly sourced, distributed, and discharged.

TECHNIA is supporting Helix in implementing Dassault Systemès’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform. For over 20 years, Helix has been developing some of the most powerful and efficient drive systems in motorsport. As the vehicle industry electrifies, the company has taken its skills forward and is now a leading manufacturer of electrical drive systems for electric and hybrid vehicles.

McMurtry Automotive

TECHNIA delivered the modeling and simulation solutions Dymola and VeSyMA to McMurtry, one of motorsport’s leading electric car manufacturers. McMurtry sought TECHNIA’s expertise to gain a deeper understanding of how the systems in its cars interact with each other to further optimize the cars’ performance. Their ambition is to refine the design to the point where McMurtry sports cars can set new speed records.
