No Windows 7 and 8 Support for new 3DEXPERIENCE Releases

Dassault Systèmes have announced that the next release of 3DEXPERIENCE (R2019x) will not support Windows 7 and 8.

Primarily this concerns Public Cloud customers, for whom the upgrade to 2019x will be automatic. If this is you, then you would be well advised to start planning upgrades to Windows 10 if needed. Customers who have On Premise deployments will only need to worry about this if they plan on upgrading to 2019x.

In our Experience

When Dassault Systèmes say “no longer supported”, they don’t specifically mean “this program will no longer work” but they will have not spent development effort to ensure this coming release will still work on previous versions of Windows, nor will they provide any support if you encounter issues while running on unsupported platforms.

We have had cases in the past of customers using Dassault Systèmes software on unsupported versions of Windows with no problems, but others that were fraught with issues that cost a lot of time to fix. Our recommendation is that it is not worth the risk to remain on these older versions of Windows, and an upgrade to Windows 10 should take place.
