Details: Most often it is important to evaluate the response of the structure in the Time Scale. Knowing the behaviour of the structure in the transient events, will certainly help us to design the structural components accurately and efficiently. The first challenge of an FE Analyst to simulate this kind of transient dynamic events, is to make a proper choice of the computational algorithm.
Although Abaqus provides implicit and explicit computational algorithms to solve this kind of problem, Abaqus/Explicit solver is far better than implicit method for handling high speed events like crash, impact, ballistics etc. Also, highly non-linear events with complex contact conditions or problems involving highly nonlinear material properties or quasi-static problems also benefit from Explicit solver.
