As an international producer of tooling and equipment technology for the automotive industry, 3CON brings high-tech into the automotive production.
Establishing branches in Germany, the USA, China and Mexico, the Austrian-based company is increasing its international orientation. Moreover, customer’s demands such as for innovation, flexibility and adherence to delivery dates increased as well.
Thus, 3CON saw the long-term objective of constantly improving its internal processes while at the same time maintaining high-quality standards. The producer was looking for a solution that addresses three challenges especially: Improving collaboration between its different sites in different countries, restructuring the workflows within teams, and optimizing version and approval management.
Attracted by the possibility of combining many applications in one database, 3CON opted for the 3DEXPERIENCE platform by Dassault Systèmes. The platform enables the producer to link its global development and production sites.
TECHNIA’s experts guided 3CON along the journey to ensure a successful implementation of the new software: from consulting on how to structure international workflows efficiently to user training in order to get the most out of the powerful platform.
Mainly in the design engineering and NC programming, the applications mesh seamlessly: Design changes in CATIA, for instance, lead to new NC calculations in DELMIA, which can be calculated anew by a simple refresh
In the course of viewing and redlining in ENOVIA, comments by different departments are saved and displayed in a special tree structure. Because all relevant information is managed on the same platform, the project manager can keep an eye on the project milestones and efficiently control the entire project.
And since all people access the same database, the collaboration between all departments has been improved. Working in the context of attributes like material costs and delivery time enables a design engineer to already consider later manufacturing costs in the course of the process.
By implementing Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform and applications, the producer was able to improve the global collaboration of its employees and ease design engineering and process planning.

For the future, 3CON also plans to create 3D animations of the industrial equipment, also generated with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, to support sales.
